As a blogger I am fortunate to have a number of folks’ who talk to me about what I write. This is one of their stories.
This blog may well reach out to many of us who have had those moments when we had to decide Truth or Secret. This may be YOUR STORY TOO…
- Which can you cope with?
- What do you REALLY want to KNOW?
- If we knew could we ever FORGET?
- If we knew could we ever FORGIVE?
- Would it make us STRONGER?
- Would it make us WEAKER?
- Would it destroy who we ARE?
- Would it define our CHARCTER for BETTER or WORSE?
Life has given all of us this CROSS ROAD and yet many of us HIDE truth and SECRET away for it is easier not to DEAL with REALITY.
Sometimes, we believe that not knowing is better than dealing with the the REALITY of TRUTH.
And yet…… those who don’t want to know will always remember… LINGERING DOUBTS LAST A LIFE TIME….
Do we REALLY believe that not KNOWING is the coping mechanism of LIFE?
Sometimes TRUTH is to damn HARD to cope with and too HURTFUL that we may never RETURN to who we ARE.
Sometimes the SECRET we keep is all the TRUTH we need and KNOW that the TWISTS and BENDS of life MAKES us WHO WE ARE!
The TRUTH is we all HAVE SECRETS the question is has HOW DID IT MAKE US BETTER PEOPLE…. Did it BUILD us or DIMINISH us?
Dedicated to all those who went through that dark tunnel! Thanks for sharing the journey.
I like to identify with people. For they are life.
When I originally drafted my 4 stages of leadership in 2012 I was working at a Drug Rehabilitation Center in Upper New York in my Human Resources Operational role.
Those 12 months changed my life.
That’s where I found real leadership change. Not from the obvious sources. Not from books but from seeing human souls change, and that’s a wonderful and ever lasting experience.
It came from those who needed to change, for them there was no where else to go, for them to change who they were, what they had becomes was the only way for a future.
Leadership comes from within but it is more than that it comes because somewhere along the way often there are people who can help you “see the new path”. The strength in you is to embrace it.
Internal fortitude is realized and sustained when there is an awakening of the soul that we all need help in our lives.
And the quality of the life we create is about the relationships we build the memories we make, the laughter the tears and hugs and the friendships.
For many who follow the “12 steps” there has to be a burning desire to become someone else, a better self. I found that the 12 steps are a source of thoughtful reading that we could all do well to read.
After all we are all in need of some “rehabilitation”.
I found that the road to recovery questions the very essence, the very being of a human soul.
I also found and admired the counsellors who became mentors and the support system and the role that they took in changing lives.
I found the path to REAL LEADERSHIP is no different for any of us.
I dedicate this posting to all the souls who have travelled down the path of recovery and come out the other side for they learned that leadership comes from within but much more they are the leaders who change the world.
This is also a thoughtful reminder to those who I had the pleasure and privilege to work with in Saranac Lake, NY. For you truly change lives and change the world! You do blessed work.
HRMexplorer – 2016
The electricity went out this morning, a wet sleety Saturday in October in Michigan and it was cold.
I put on my earphones and started to listen to Andrea Bocelli and picked up a book.
That book was “The Accidental Creative” by Todd Henry and as is my way I immediately started to doodle thoughts in the margins.
It is true that I philosophize about life and perhaps reflect too much, for some people anyway.
Too many questions Peter they might say, just relax and live the moment. Never mind about tomorrow, enjoy today.
All that is true, however at least once a week I go on to utube and listen to the commencement speech of Steve Jobs:
That speech was back in 2005 and it is worth reminding us, that life has to have a value.
I agree with Jobs, people can only make the connections looking back! After all is that not what wisdom is and imparting your experience to our young ones?
Reading for me is an aphrodisiac something that refreshes my mind and re-ignites my energy.
Thanks to this book I was reminded of some connections we can all relate to.
The challenge for all of us is: What are you prepared to do? When all is said and done how much will you have left in the “tank”?
Stop trying + Stop doing = Mediocrity
Be the same + Do the same: + don’t question = Go with the Flow
Courage + Questioning + Challenge = Ride against the Flow
Structure + Intentional purpose = Effectiveness
Purpose + Intent + Persistence = Generational ideas
A purposeful life is when you blend all that you do:
Work + Family + Relationships + Friends + Interests into who you are?
Someone who takes the next blank page and turns it into a picture and knowing that it is not what you know that matters but rather what you do.
Brilliant ideas are in everyone Thanks Todd
