Permission to think in ways others do not imagine

Just been reading John C. Maxwell’s book “How Successful People Think”

Wondered how many businesses today hire these people.

Maxwell makes the following points. (My adaptations added)

  • Give yourself permission to expand your world – (Let your thoughts fly, allow yourself the freedom to think of ideas that are different and then implement)
  • Go against the flow of the world –  (Your thinking may not always go with the flow- know that it is ok that this is so)
  • Society wants to keep people in boxes. (The size of boxes is only limited by your imagination- who’s imagine is it anyway – make the boxes bigger – stretch them)
  • Most people (business) stick with the status quo – (All about today and little about what life can be)

So what we get is:

What we always get

Safety and coziness and risk averse

An environment that does not stimulate experiment or growth

Staying in the safety of your shores

People who do not grow

Business that does not grow

A culture of “it is what it is”

What we want:

Freedom of ideas that change they way we are

The ability express ourselves in ways that say who we are

Permission to think in ways that others do not imagine

The opportunity to create and build and develop

To be the change that is needed

Dear Reader who are you and what would you add to this conversation?

Thanks go to the creative abilities of John C Maxwell and the artistic genius of Salvador Dali

I recently left the corporate world, went through a tragic loss and relationship breakdown yet I'm here alive and still very much wanting to pursue my dreams and maintain a state of happiness. This site opens up a new world for me to share and if I'm really privileged connect with with others.
